About Me

I'm Julia and a Primary Tutor, I have over 25 years' teaching experience from ages 4 - 11, therefore highly knowledgeable with the primary curriculum. I have a good track record of teaching English and maths at all ages, levels of ability, including students preparing for entrance exams and SATs preparation. Through gaining post-graduate qualifications in teaching maths and provision for the able and gifted, in addition to my English specialism, this depth of knowledge is invaluable to my role of Primary Tutor. From this wealth of experience and as a parent myself, I also have a sound understanding of the 'whole child'.

Over the last few years, I have significant tutoring experience in maths and English at both KS1 and KS2 in schools and privately online. My teaching method is to use interactive strategies from a wide range of resources, which are selected according to the child's needs and used at their required pace. Where possible, I tailor lessons to children's interests and learning styles, which are easily picked up when tutoring. Being part of those 'light bulb' moments, when learning just 'clicks,' is very rewarding seeing children progress and their enthusiasm and confidence grow. I love to tutor because children learn that they can do anything they put their mind to. The difference between tutoring and teaching a class of children in school, is that I can address misconceptions at the point of learning and plug any gaps that may arise and/or move onto the next steps of learning. All bespoke lessons remain in line with the National Curriculum using current teaching methods that children are familiar with at school.

In my spare time, I like to walk my Cockapoo (dog) Phoebe, spend time with family/friends, travel, swim, attend musical theatre shows and listen to music. I have recently taken an interest in gardening and have plenty to discover and learn. I am based in Warrington, Cheshire, which is sandwiched between Liverpool and Manchester. All tuition is online using Zoom, which means that I can provide tuition to anywhere in the world.
